Itinerary
Day 1: Australia – Delhi
Upon arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to The Park for two nights.
Day 2: Delhi
A full day tour of Old and New Delhi, taking in the Red Fort, Raj Ghat, the memorial to Mahatma Ghandi and one of the largest mosques in Asia, Jama Masjid. After lunch, continue to India Gate, Humayun's Tomb and the tallest stone tower in India, the 13th-century Qutab Minar.
Day 3: Delhi – Varanasi
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Varanasi, situated on the banks of the holy river Ganges, a religious destination for the Hindu community. Visit the nearby buried Buddhist city of Sarnath where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon. Stay at the Hotel Ramada for one night.
Day 4: Varanasi – Khajuraho
Take a dawn boat ride on the Ganges for an unmatched view of the various ghats and the ceremonies performed by devout Hindus as they make offerings to the first rays of the rising sun. In the afternoon, fly to Khajuraho and visit the world's finest temple art with 22 exquisitely carved stone temples spread over 20 square kilometres. Overnight at the Ramada Khajuraho.
Day 5: Khajuraho – Agra
Journey by road visiting the fabled town of Orchha, the former capital of the Bundela kings of the 16th and 17th centuries and spend time visiting some of its majestic temples and palaces. Arrive Jhansi to board a train to Agra. Stay for two nights at the Clarks Shiraz.
Day 6: Agra
Morning tour of Agra, taking in the legendary Taj Mahal and its intricate marble decorations. The tour also includes the hilltop citadel of Agra Fort with its beautiful marble palaces.
Day 7: Agra – Jaipur
Depart for Jaipur by road, with a stop along the way at Fatehpur Sikri, the fortified ghost city built in 1569 by Emperor Akbar as his capital. Continue to Jaipur, Rajasthan's capital and also known as the Pink City. Stay two nights at the Mansingh Towers.
Day 8: Jaipur
Full day tour of Jaipur, including the Maharaja's City Palace with its museum displaying a fine collection of paintings and costumes, the intricately designed Palace of the Winds and Jai Singh's Astrological Observatory. Ride an elephant along the ramparts to reach the magnificent Amber Fort.
Day 9: Jaipur – Deogarh
Leave Jaipur for the delightful town of Deogarh. Overnight at the stunning Deogarh Mahal, a 17th-century converted palace set high in the Arvalli Mountains.
Day 10: Deogarh – Udaipur
Travel by road to Udaipur, the Venice of the east and considered by many the most romantic city in Rajasthan. Visit the Jain temple complex at Ranakpur with its intricately carved marble temples, the largest of its kind in India. Stay for two nights at the Shiv Niwas Palace.
Day 11: Udaipur
Morning tour of Udaipur, including the ornate City Palace, charming narrow streets, Jagdish Temple and the relaxing Sajjan Niwas Gardens.
Day 12: Udaipur – Delhi. Fly to Delhi and overnight at The Park.
Day 13: Depart Delhi
Transfer to the airport. You may wish to stay longer in Delhi or extend your tour visiting the southern state of Kerala or Kumaoni villagers on a Himalayan village walk.
